We once had a nation that actually cared about the character of the individual who lived in the White House. My how drastically things have changed in the past 40 years.
In 1988, a young, charismatic Senator from Colorado burst on the scene and was the front runner for the Democratic nominee for president until stories broke about his womanizing and an extra marital affair with Donna Rice, brought it all crashing down. At issue for the voters was his fundamental character and whether a man like that should represent the United States. His replacement, Michael Dukakis met the same fate due to a furlough program he had instituted when he was the Governor of Massachusetts. His correctional department allowed a convicted murderer, Willie Horton to take a weekend furlough and he never returned and then committed several heinous crimes in Maryland. For voters his character flaw was that he was perceived as weak on crime, his numbers plummeted.
So how did we get from that moral outrage over minor, but important character issues to where we are now, with a man with no moral compass sitting in the most important seat in the world. Why was there such a moral outrage that prevented these men from sitting in the nations highest seat, yet this buffoon, Donald J Trump, has been, with all his baggage and indiscretions, from, racism to being tied to the biggest sex trafficking rings and pedophiles, been elected twice.
Here’s an individual, along with his father, who was sued in 1972 by the Federal Government and lost, for forcing minorities out of their homes so that Trump Enterprises could build luxury condominiums. In 1989, the Central Park Five (five black youths) were charged with a horrific rape. Trump took out a full page ad in the New York papers and called for their execution, the five were later exonerated and Trump never apologized to any of them.
Let’s move on. Here’s a man in his fifties who purchased a failing entity, the Miss America Pageant for the sole purpose of being able to go back stage and see the contestants in various stages of undress and at the height of the biggest sex trafficking, pedophile case in history tied to his best friend, Jeffery Epstein. When the Epstein Files were released it was discovered that Trump was named in the files almost as much as Epstein, over a million times and counting. There is even un redacted files that implicate Trump in the rape of a 13 year old victim. Yet, the Department of Justice (DOJ) continues to cover up the extent of his and other wealthy benefactors involvement. He’s been accused by more than 24 women of sexual assault and rape and in 2023 lost a case to E. Jean Carroll for sexual assault and libel. When handing down the sentence the judge in the case stated, that if he hadn’t been a former president (at the time) he would have been facing jail time for rape. In his divorce case against his first wife, Ivanka, she accused him of rape, but later recanted. Seems kind of suspicious to me that she ended up dying from a mysterious fall down the steps of her apartment.
This is a man who has cheated on every wife he has been married to, including his current wife Melania, who he cheated on when she was pregnant with Barron, with a porn star, Stormy Daniels.
This man is a 34 account felon for shady business practices and has been sued numerous times by suppliers, contractors and others for failure to pay his bills or lying about the actual value of his properties to either get tax breaks or to acquire funds. It’s so bad that some of the largest banks will not deal with him or his companies. Every business he has attempted has failed, including two casinos.
He is a five time draft dodging coward who received deferments from a Dr his dad paid off to keep him out of the Vietnam War for bone spurs. He has gone out of his way to disrespect and dishonor veterans with derogatory comments, calling them suckers and losers, saying of a war hero, “I don’t respect people who were captured”.
So how did we get so far away from the ideals in American politics that character mattered when it came to being the President of the United States. When did we move from womanizing and an extra marital affair derailing a candidate, but being best buddies with the biggest sex trafficker and pedophile in history, not matter?

The simple fact is his cult, base loved his message of hate against anyone not white and CIS. It allowed them to come out of the shadows and show their hate for people not like them, freely. Many of his base claim to be “Christians “, but they are that only in name only. They go to church on Sunday, read the book and think, “I’m a good person, I’m a Christian “. The fact is it’s an act, they want to read into the scripture their own meanings and bend it to suit their needs. They are no more Christian than the devil himself.
We don’t even have to get into what this clown and his monkeys in this administration have done since getting back into office. The lies that he used to get back into office and continues to spew on a daily basis to control his base. His base eats this up while the rest of America wakes up everyday and wonders what the hell is he going to do today to embarrass America and push us further from our long term allies.
I blame a lot of this on those people who sat home during the last election thinking, “Ahh, there’s no reason to vote, there’s no way he gets elected again”. Yet, here we are because of your indifference we are now living in an America where non citizens and citizens alike, people at immigration hearings are being grabbed off the street and sent to foreign lands, American Citizens are being killed in the streets for protesting ICE (Americas Gestapo) and people can’t afford to pay their bills or afford healthcare, where we are fighting a war without an end that threatens to drag the whole world into, while the demented con man continues to deteriorate mentally and physically before our eyes, while the Senate and Congress, as well as the mainstream media continues to sit on their hands and pretend that everything is normal. Instead they let this fraud in the Emperor’s clothes destroy what America once stood for.
